As Program Director and Board Member for the Centre for Human Relations and Community Studies for over 30 years, my consulting and training activities included designing and implementing over 2000 workshops with various universities, schools, hospitals, social services, churches, penitentiaries, government departments, and business organizations in Canada, the USA, and Europe. The focus of these training programs has been in the areas of human relations, group work, leadership and organizational change. More specifically, they have dealt with communication skills and personal growth, change management, leadership training, staff development, decision-making and problem-solving skills, conflict management, designing of training programs, and the development of tools and instruments that help bring about systemic change. Due to my academic practitioner profile in teaching, research, and service, I am often sought out to present to various organizations and share my thoughts on groups and their place in contemporary society. This is yet another aspect that confirms my belief that none of my profiles are separate. Lived experience is one of the best ways to continually ensure that my roles as an educator, a scientist, and a professional continue to evolve: sharing this with others ensures a continued search for excellence.
